Rear Booze Reviews: Sadler’s Peaky Blinder Black IPA
Date Drank: 27th April 2018
I had a hard time with the title of this beer. “Black IPA”. The “P” in IPA stands for fucking PALE lads. Black isn’t pale. It’s the opposite of pale. Then I realised that you cannot judge a beer by its colour. That’s just racism. It’s what’s inside that counts. The flavour.
And it tastes like an IPA. Because of course it does. I honestly don’t know what I was expecting. So if you like IPA, the colour black, equality and Peaky Blinders you’re in for a winner here.
You know what, I can actually taste the darkness. That sounds sinister but it feels more substantial on the tongue than your standard IPA. The thing with darker beers is a) they usually taste awesome and b) you get a far worse hangover from them. I had it with a little chicken, which was light and offset it.
Then I had a second one and that went down so fucking easy.
Embrace the darkness.
