Rear View Reviews Awards 2018: Best on Interviews

Hi and welcome to the Rear View Reviews wrestling awards for 2018. Here are the voters and their Twitter handles;

Ian Hamilton (@theianhamilton), Rob Reid (@britwresround), Mike Kilby (@mikekilby), Manu Romero (@manuromerograps), Alex (@trinidadchainz), Chris Boyle (@boyleybugs), Mark Ashford (@iloikewrestling), Mort (@brothermort), Joao (@thekingofboom), Amanda Why (@manda_why), Aqeel (@aqeelkhalid) and myself @arnoldfurious

Last year best on interviews went to Trent Seven, who saw off Zack Gibson and Kevin Owens in a close race. This category saw the biggest uptick in votes and double the number of nominees. Also, Trent received no votes whatsoever this year! Which is quite interesting considering he’s still cutting rampant promos on almost every show he’s on. Gibson didn’t see a similar drop off but Kevin Owens also didn’t get any votes.

Despite a close race David Starr actually led this category from the beginning. Starr has impressed voters with his anti-establishment heel run in Rev Pro, where he’s been feuding with company owner Andy Quildan. He’s also continued to deliver for wXw and across the US Indies. Some of his work borders on worked shoot and it’s hard to tell if he’s being serious, blurring the lines a little. It’s a tactic that has impressed voters.

Becky Lynch has developed into one of the best promos in wrestling over the past few months. She’s gone from cutting nutty promos about quinoa to being an absolute badass. The rebranding being completed on a SmackDown invasion of RAW that gives me Goosebumps just thinking about it. “The Man” is taking no guff from anyone in WWE and her weekly performances are high quality.
